Couples
“Listening is sexier than talking. asking questions is sexier than broadcasting. being generally interested is much more important than trying to be interesting.”
dr. john gottman (the gottman institute)
Relationships usually start off with smiles, romance, and a euphoric sense of happiness. Relationships are maintained by hard work, empathy, and commitment in the face of frustration. This is easier said than done, however. When one or both partners feel unloved, unheard, or forgotten, problems can arise. Most couples truly want the relationship to work, but feel like getting back to that happy place is no longer possible. Couples counseling is an excellent way to start out a marriage (pre-marital counseling), keep a strong marriage on the right track, or bring a struggling marriage to a more healthy place. If you feel your relationship could improve, I can help. I am a certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator, which provides assessments on areas of strength and areas in need of improvement, as well as tools to use in your everyday life. I work from a place of honesty, collaboration, and positivity. Couples can experience improved communication, better understanding of themselves and their partner, and a renewed sense of bonding. I can also work with couples who have chosen to separate or divorce, but want to do so in a way that has minimal negative impact on their children.
